Full payment is due within 5 days from the day that you register (7 days for international campers). You can pay using PayPal through our website, or you can drop off your cash or cheques (made out to Escape Adventures) at John Henry Bikes. Credit card payments may be processed over the phone or directly at John Henry Bikes. The waiver must be signed by both the legal guardian(s) and the participant on your first day of camp.
How do I know what camp is best suited for my child? how do I know what level is appropriate for my child?
Our camps are broken down by age and ability and activities. The best camp for your child depends on what your child is interested in exploring this summer (biking, kayaking, video making, tennis, swimming). Bike camps are split based on level of ability and age. Generally we only ask you to tell us approximately what level your child may be as there will be an assessment on the first day and your child will be placed in the appropriate group. If you have any questions about the camps please contact the Escape Team at any time 604-307-2453.
Is an Adventure Camp for me?
If you love the outdoors then our adventure camps are for you! The adventure camps allow your adventurer the opportunity to try a different outdoor activity each day. Kayak, bike, climb, hike, build shelters, play tennis, swim, create your own mountain bike movie…the possibilities are endless! Escape, Explore, Play and Ride!
What equipment do I need?
Every rider and explorer will need:
- a backpack to carry their lunch, water, bike tube and jacket.
-bike in working order
-Helmet and Armour
Little Rippers
All Little Rippers are required to wear leg and arm armour and a great fitting regular helmet. You may have armour at home that you can use! Soccer shin pads and knee pads, hockey pads, skateboarding pads…all of these can be used.
Extreme Riders .5
All Extreme Riders .5 participants are required to wear leg and arm armour! Like the Little Rippers you may have armour at home that you can use so check out what you have but make sure that you come to camp prepared with all your gear. As for helmets if you want to wear a full face helmet go for it! Otherwise, a regular great fitting helmet will work too!
Extreme Riders
Levels 1 and 2 – Armour (leg and arm) is needed. Like all of our other groups you may have armour from other sports that you can use! Extreme Riders are required to wear full face helmets that are fitted properly! You can take your helmet to any local bike shops if you have any questions about fit.
Level 3 and Freeride Team- Armour is needed and we do recommend that you wear a upper body armour that includes chest and spine protection!
Is my bike OK?
We have different requirements for different camps when it comes to equipment. Generally there are very few requirements for Little Rippers, and more for Extreme Riders. If you are unsure if your bike is acceptable please take it to your local bike shop. All bikes must be in a perfect working order before we let you ride them so please book a tune-up for your bike well ahead of the camp!
My child doesn’t know anybody in the camp – will they be ok?
Most kids sign up without their friends so you are not alone. You will discover that making friends is really fast and easy in an Escape camp. The instructor facilitates the interactions from the very first day and you will end that day with a bunch of new “buddies”.
